-Don't get me wrong, I'm no audio perfectionist, I don't even have a microphone, but I do understand the importance of sound in games. That's why I tried to change nearly every Soldat sound into the best RE sound I could make.

-It's hard finding RE gunshot sounds online, harder than I thought it would be, so I decided to simply record my own with my computer. It uses a built in mic, so to record a sound I loaded a saved RE game and equipped the gun I wanted to record. Then I moved my TV set right in front of my computer (Thankfully they are both in my living room) and turned up the volume really loud. With one hand I held the videogame controller and held the mouse with the other hand. Then I clicked 'Record' and fired the gun.

-That was one gunshot sound out of 10. As you might imagine, recording and editing them all took a few hours and I'm sure my neighbors thought I was having a shootout.

-"But wait" you ask, "there are 11 guns, not 10!" Heh, funny story about that, I didn't record the Gatling Gun from my games.

-I don't know how, or when, but I accidentally deleted my saved game of RE3 where I had Gatling Gun. It's only a secret weapon, so you can't find it in the game, you have to play a minigame called the Mercenaries to buy it. I was working hard on RE Soldat and didn't want to spend hours playing the Mercenaries, trying to earn enough money to buy another Gatling, so I came up with another idea.

-Resident Evil Fan has a lot of great RE multimedia, including movies. One movie features a guy using the Gatling Gun. So what I did was face my computer's speaker TO my computer, turned up the volume and played the movie. As you might expect, the sound quality was terrible, but with enough editing, I got it up to a passable standard.
My Favorite sound:
-It's the sound that plays when an enemy explodes into a bunch of pieces in RE4. It fits  perfectly.

-I recorded every one of the gunshot sounds from my Resident Evil games. However the reloading, the "arg" sounds, and all the other sounds I changed, I downloaded online or simply changed the original Soldat sound. Even then I had to edit most of them so they would fit when they needed to play or stop, or take out certain bits of sound.

-Some of the RE specific sounds, the Menu clicks mainly, I got from other Resident Evil mods for other games. Other mods are good places to check for "themed" sounds, and RE Soldat is no exception. So what I'm trying to say is even though I personally edited the files, feel free to use them however you want.

-I enjoy listening to Resident Evil music while playing RE Soldat. I used to have some RE MP3s with the mod, but they increased the file size way too much (It was 30MB before). So you'll have to get your own songs if you want the full RE experience.
